Hints and Tips

There is so much to online learning it puts most teachers off. Are you an IT wiz or a classroom teacher right? Right, don't place your self under more stress. Start at the beginning, by using your Moodle as a storage system you will soon be wondering what all the hype is about and to be honest for the busy teacher that may be all you ever use it for.....and that is OK!!

I drifted into online learning because many of my students are not turned on by Technical books (being a Design and Technology Teacher) Many of my students didn't like school and I understand this because I was the same at their age. I have to keep their passion burning in 'spite of school'
I have seen the very quiet power of individuals using digital media as a learning tool and it is inspiring to be around. This empowerment of individuals (especially at risk kids) is why I created Digital Teacher.

Here is a question that I am starting to ask myself.
Am I a Teacher or Content Developer.
I can be both (both part-time). but I am becoming more Content developer and that is no bad thing because the world is starting to cry out for realistic content for students in a safe, affordable environment. I expect to see other teachers going down this line in the future. Knowledge and passion driving content development/Learning Object creations
what are your thoughts?

Being both a Moodle content developer and a classroom teacher can work if your school/education system embedded blended or some form of online learning and gets rid of outdated time consuming tasks that teachers find themselves doing. Just today I had an email from a DT member who's school has done just that.

we currently use Moodle as an online assessment tool as well and so we no longer write summative reports at the end of a Semester but give immediate feedback to students through Moodle.
Taking the focus and pressure off old fashioned report writing and assessing through Moodle is one way to change.
What do you think?
Steve's example
